Hi, I’m Julie! Like most kids growing up in Texas during the 1970’s and 1980’s our idea of a great family vacation consisted of loading up the car, driving a few hours and staying somewhere for a few days in the summer, once.
When I moved out on my own I did everything I was supposed to…. Got a job, put myself through college, started my career, worked 50-60 hours a week, and expanded my horizons. Now, I drove 12 hours to ski in Colorado for my annual vacation. I absolutely love Colorado but lets face it, it’s only 800 miles from home.
Time for some changes…
By the time I was in my 30’s I was burned out, unhappy and had been on a plane less than 10 times in my life. Realizing it was time to make a few changes, I promptly quit my job and bought a plane ticket to London. The fact that I was walking on streets older than my Country was hard to comprehend at first. Needless to say, I absolutely fell in Love!
But travel comes with a price, right? The way I like to travel it does which is why I’m always looking for the best deals and discounts. I don’t mind being in coach if it’s my only option. But who doesn’t prefer Business Class?
So I got my real estate license and started selling houses. This allowed me to travel when I wanted and not be tied down to a desk, or a boss for that matter. Sure, I put in the hours but I have more time and flexibility to take some really great trips without having to ask for time off work.
Success!
Fast forward 20 years later and now I’m actually married to a wonderful man who was born in London. Ironically, we met in Texas, not across the pond. How crazy is that?
We love to travel and I’ve gain quite a reputation as being the person who will walk ten miles a day on vacation. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to vacation on the beach with a good book and a frosty beverage too. But my greatest vacations include delving into the local culture and history. I don’t just take photos, I read historical books about every location and listen intently to the tour guides. I love finding out the why’s, when’s and how’s of every destination.
I’m excited to share my passion for travel, in-depth location history, fun facts and travel tips with you. Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to subscribe and leave comments. I love hearing from you!
